Stroud Choir – serious about enjoying our singing!
The Thames Head Singers are a friendly and sociable, chamber choir of about 30 singers based in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Our repertoire is extremely broad, covering renaissance to 21st century compositions – from serious to jazz and pop arrangements and also some pieces specifically commissioned for us.
We perform three concerts a year and at least one Cathedral visit where we sing the service in the resident choir’s absence. We also sing regularly at weddings and other special occasions. Recent concerts have covered composers from Byrd and Britten to George Shearing and Paul McCartney. There are also two social events a year where music is not on the menu, just food and drink!
We are very lucky to be led by Andrew Hopwood who is an established singing teacher and vocal coach and has 30 years’ experience as a professional singer. Rehearsals are, therefore, challenging as well as fun and we occasionally arrange workshop days to develop specific pieces and generally improve our skills.
We do have some spaces for new members so why not come along and give us a try!
