St Matthew Passion
J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion tells the dramatic story of the betrayal, torture and sacrifice of Christ through the eyes of Matthew the Evangelist. Widely regarded as the greatest piece of Western sacred music, this masterpiece features some of Bach’s most beautiful arias and mighty choruses and has traditionally been performed on Good Friday since its debut in 1727.
The Thames Head Singers will be joining together with the Painswick Singers, members of the Capriol Chamber Orchestra and invited soloists for this performance on Good Friday, 14th April, at St. Mary’s Church, Painswick.
The evening will be directed by Andrew Hopwood and features;
