Choral Workshop – St Matthew Passion (Open to all).
Come and join us for a full-day workshop led by vocal coach and musical director, Andrew Hopwood, to improve singing and vocal techniques.
The day will focus on J.S.Bach’s ‘St Matthew Passion’, widely regarded as one of the pillars of Western sacred music. With gripping drama, Bach’s Passion retells the compelling story of the events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus and is traditionally performed on Good Friday.
The workshop will also include a lecture on this beautiful and powerful work from Dr. Warwick Cole who is an authority on J.S. Bach.
Everyone is welcome – come along and have fun, improve your singing and have a go at St Matthew Passion!
The day will be hosted by the Thames Head Singers and the Painswick Singers, who are joining together to perform St Matthew Passion on Good Friday 2017.
Price £10 – to include lecture and light refreshments (please bring along your own packed lunch). All music will be provided for the day (we will be using the Novello version in English if you would prefer to bring your own copy). Registration will be from 9.30am, singing 10am-4pm in St Mary’s Church Painswick.
Places will be limited so please let us know if you will be coming (and whether you are Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass) by emailing [email protected]
We look forward to seeing you there.
