Summer Concert – Mass in Blue by Will Todd
Our summer concert will feature ‘Mass in Blue’ by Will Todd with soprano soloist, Megan Strachan (below).
We will be accompanied by: Matthew Morris (Saxophone), Julian Elloway (piano), Pam Smith (drums) and Dave Ayre (Double Bass) and directed by Andrew Hopwood.
Mass in Blue is a Latin mass with a difference! It combines two very different musical traditions: the sung Mass, one of the oldest forms of European music, and the Blues, of African-American origin which paved the way for jazz. The result is a dynamic, uplifting, and highly popular setting of the Latin mass featuring some wonderful blues harmonies which are a joy to sing and to listen to.
The concert will also feature a colourful selection of pieces by choir, soloists and musicians including three songs by Stroud composer, Emily Hall, sung by Kevin Ashby.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start and a selection of wines and refreshments will be available during the interval.
Tickets £15 (under 16s free). Book online at bit.ly/ThamesHeadSummer23
