Andrew Hopwood – Conductor
Andrew spent 20 years singing in opera before turning to teaching voice. However, like many of his generation his singing started as a Parish Church choir boy. He participated in Royal School of Church Music courses and it was via the RSCM and its cathedral courses that Andrew was inspired to sing as a career.
In the early days he became a lay clerk and has trained several church choirs. The singing of choral church music combined with his time in opera and now working and coaching singers of musical theatre and even rock music, gives Andrew a wide and deep experience of helping singers get the best out of their voice.
Julian Elloway – Accompanist
Julian Elloway studied piano in Oxford with Lucy Van-Jung Page, at the Guildhall School of Music with Cimbro Martin, and subsequently specialised in piano accompaniment with Paul Hamburger. Julian was also organ scholar at Sussex University. He worked in Brighton as keyboard player, choir conductor and répétiteur, and subsequently moved to Oxfordshire to be Senior Music Editor and Manager of the Music Department at Oxford University Press.
At OUP, he worked with contemporary composers, overseeing their music from composition to publication. He also commissioned new editions of many classic works from the choral society repertoire and worked with scholars on new understandings of composers’ original intentions.
Julian now lives in Minchinhampton, where he works as a freelance musician and editor.
